Reality is that many people reach a point in their life and business where they are stuck. They are either too close to the situation or overwhelmed with what is happening in their life. At that point they need to reach outside their self for guidance, not opinions, but guidance. What I bring to a human life through my mentoring is a wealth of experience from years of counseling with people, a calmness where I am not emotionally involved in their situation, and a clarity that allows me to ask the right question. Everyone knows their own answer, but sometimes they get lost in the emotional jungle that goes with what they are struggling with.

On several occasions, when a person has asked me to work with them, I hear “How long do you think this will take?” My answer is always the same, “I don’t know. It does not depend on me. It is all about your willingness to be honest, control your fear, and do what you know you need to do.” I’ve worked with people where we have resolved their issues in a few months to working with several for 3 to 5 years. Remember, you didn’t get in this position over night.

Over my years of working with human behavior through counseling, writing and speaking, I have worked with people from all walks of life. I don’t pay attention to the “type.” I pay attention to the need. There are times I am asked to work with a person, and I tell them “NO.” I do that because I know their need is not my area of expertise or they are not ready for me in their life. Ask anyone who has worked with me and they will tell you I play no games, don’t allow them to play games, and hold them accountable for the plan that we agreed upon.

Normally, I take on 5 to 6 a year. My normal time in a human life is one year. It takes me 4 to 5 months to open the front gate to their life, 2 to 3 months for them to develop the trust necessary for them to let me into the inner part of their life, and the rest of the year for us to lay the foundation for their journey that lies ahead.

Ask anyone I have spoken for and they will all tell you the same thing — “Richard tailors his message to the audience he is speaking to. I do my research ahead of time, know the issues and connect the need to the message. That is why so many walk out of my audience saying, “I would swear he has been living under my bed,” or “He was talking only to me. How does he know me so well?” You cannot throw any issue at me I haven’t dealt with through my journey of personal counseling. This is what makes me so valuable to an audience.

Richard is not one who demands a “number of people” for him to speak too. His audiences range from 5 to the thousands. No matter the “number,” Richard delivers the same powerful message. He is all about the message, not the number of people present.
